Laurent Mombaerts is an engineer specialised in biomedical engineering. He graduated from the Faculté des Sciences Appliquées of the University of Liège in 2015. From 2015 to 2018, he wrote a PhD thesis at the University of Luxembourg in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. It dealt with the development of new tools for studying biological systems, such as gene regulatory networks and neuronal dynamics in epileptic seizures. From 2019 to 2020, Laurent supported the Luxembourg government with modelling the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic. Following this, he worked for Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg as a Machine Learning Applied Scientist in the Department of Neurosurgery. Laurent has been working as an Applied Scientist at Amazon Web Services (AWS) since 2022, where he develops machine learning tools to determine the effects of customer interactions on customer acceptance with AWS cloud tools.
